Doug is a Partner with the Law Office of Jillisa O’Brien, P.C. with extensive civil litigation experience in the construction industry, representing developers, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors in high exposure cases. Doug has represented clients in multi-million dollar actions and has successfully negotiated resolutions in highly complex cases utilizing creative problem solving, diligent investigation, and persistent advocacy. In addition to his experience as a construction litigator, Doug is also an experienced education lawyer who focuses on child and parent advocacy, Special Education law compliance, Individualized Education Plan (“IEP”) meeting and Due Process hearing representation, expulsion and suspension hearings, and school dispute resolutions. He is a member with the California Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the Counsel of Parents, Attorneys, and Advocates, Inc. (“COPAA”) and is admitted to practice law before all California state courts, United States District Court, Central District and Southern District.

Doug graduated with distinction from Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies/Performance and Music Education in Instrumental and Vocal Music in 1996. He then earned his Professional Clear Teaching Credential while attending California State University, San Bernardino in 1999, spent six years as an educator in the California public schools, and was named to "Who's Who Among American Teachers." Doug then attended and graduated from the California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, where he earned a J.D. He was named to the Dean's List and received the William L. Lynch Scholarship for academic excellence. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2005 and has a beautiful wife and two wonderful children. When not working Doug and his family enjoy playing with their two golden retrievers, going to Disneyland, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
